Sustainability
At CCT Venues we pride ourselves on trying to be as sustainable as possible. Here are some of our sustainability efforts.
Ethical providers
The suppliers we have chosen to work with think the same as we do and champion sustainability ethical farming, provide us with 100% traceability from farm to fork and fair trading. These practices are overseen by various government led organisations, such as the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Red Tractor Scheme and Farm Assured Foods.
- We only use MSC certified fish.
- We are signed up to the British skippers scheme.
- We only use certified Free Range milk under the Pasture Promise label.
- Our fruit and vegetable supplier provide us with as much UK produce as possible.
- We choose meat and poultry suppliers whose own animal welfare policy covers the 5 F’s (Freedom from pain, injury and
disease, Freedom from fear and distress, Freedom from discomfort, Freedom from hunger and thirst and Freedom to express
normal behaviour). - We serve 100% Brazil Arabica Lavazza coffee in all of our venues, which was developed in collaboration with the NGO
Rainforest Alliance.
Plastic Useage
We don’t use any single use plastic in our venues. We bottle our own in reusable glass bottles, straight from the mains through our filtered water system. We also have biodegradable pens used in place of single-use plastic alternatives.
Supporting Local
Supporting local producers is a core part of how we operate as a venue. In our kitchens, we only use free-range eggs sourced from local farms, fish from sustainable and responsible fisheries, and Red Tractor-accredited chicken. Wherever possible, preference is always given to suppliers based in the local area, helping us reduce food miles while supporting nearby businesses.
This commitment goes beyond our menus. We actively seek out local suppliers for a range of other services across the venue too, from food and drink to operational and event-related needs. By working closely with trusted local partners, we’re able to maintain high standards of quality and sustainability, while contributing positively to the local community we’re proud to be part of.
Plant-a-tree Scheme
Every time a client runs an event with us at our venue we plant a tree on their behalf, in partnership with Ecologi.
Reducing
We have won multiple awards for our waste management and environmental policies, such as multiple Clean City Awards and the IACC Green Star award.
Reusing
We are committed to extending the life of materials wherever possible and reducing unnecessary waste.
- We re-upholster existing furniture or donate unwanted items to local charities, ensuring they are reused rather than sent to landfill.
- We prioritise the reuse of existing venue resources and equipment before purchasing new items.
Recycling
Recycling and responsible waste management are embedded across our venue operations.
- Winners of the Platinum Clean City Award on multiple occasions, and recipients of the prestigious Chairman’s Cup, awarded by the Mayor of the City of London in recognition of our strong environmental credentials.
- Clearly labelled recycling bins available throughout the venue.
- Biodegradable products used in our food services areas, reducing landfill waste.
- Recycled paper notepads used across the venue.
- Electronic registration in place of paper sign-in sheets.
- Electronic signatures used wherever possible to minimise paper use.
- Documents previewed digitally rather than printed unnecessarily.
- Food wastage targets in place to reduce excess and improve sustainability.
- A strict “switch-off” policy for lights, electronics and equipment when not in use.
